Located on the Ardennes, in the North-East of Luxembourg, the Nature Park Our was established in 2005. In 2013 the Municipalities of the Park signed an agreement to define a harmonised approach on climate protection policies, building on the previous shared park management experience. It is composed by 8 Municipalities with 22.000 inhabitants. The IMC objectives are:
- Reduction of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
- Stimulation of sustainable economic activities.
- Implementation of the Climate Pact on their territory with the aim of coordinating the climate protection action on a broader territory.
No evidence.
In 2020, according to the data collected in the Climate Pact website, half of the Park Municipalities were already holding the European Energy Award, while the other four reached the European Energy Award Gold.
The European Energy Award is assigned as a recognition of the effort of a Municipality in terms of energy saving, efficiency and sustainability analysis and planning, represented by the implementation of at least 50% of the foreseen measures.
The European Energy Award Gold is given to the Municipalities after the implementation of at least 75% of their planned measures, as a demonstration of a strong commitment to the issue of sustainable energy management
- 2013
As a result of the Inter-Municipal Cooperation, every Municipality of the Our Park was able to develop joint efforts in the field of sustainable energy management, starting from the specific strengths of their territories. In 2017, 67.8% of the measures defined by the Climate Pact were already implemented in the territory of Our Park. The measures cover fields as energy efficiency in private housing sector, avoiding the use of pesticides in public areas, optimising the public transport routes, among others. The IMC is involved in the production of shared policies in the fields of energy efficiency and renewable sources, urban and territorial planning and mobility.
