The Italian Association for the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (AICCRE) is the national association of the territorial institutional subjects constituting the system of regional and local powers (Municipalities, Districts, Metropolitan Cities and Regions) and of the other subjects in which the system is organised (Municipalities, Municipal Decentralisation Districts, Mountain Communities, Island Communities, Unions of Municipalities), through which these actors work together to build a European Union on federal bases, based on the recognition, strengthening and enhancement of regional and local autonomies.
AICCRE elaborates proposals and develops initiatives so that regional and local authorities, in a united way, can contribute, within the adequate institutional bodies of the European Union and of the Council of Europe to the choices and to the formulation of consequent policies for the strengthening and the valorisation of regional and local autonomies.
AICCRE is the Italian Section of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR), European Section of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG).
